The Best Connection Mansfield are currently seeking a highly skilled CNC Miller (Programmer, Setter & Operator) to join our reputable engineering client based in Kirkby‑in‑Ashfield, with an immediate start available. This is an excellent opportunity to join an established manufacturer producing precision‑engineered components for industries such as Energy, Medical, Defence, Rail, Aerospace, Transport, and Oil Exploration.
We are looking for an experienced and confident CNC professional who can programme, set and operate CNC Milling machines to a high standard within a precision manufacturing environment.
Candidate Requirements
To be considered for this role, you must have:
- Strong experience programming CNC Milling machines
- Previous experience setting, operating, and machining large components using Heidenhain controls
- Full ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
- Proven experience producing high‑quality, precise components
- Competence using engineering measuring equipment (micrometers, verniers, gauges etc.)
- Strong communication skills and excellent time management
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- A proactive, reliable approach to engineering tasks
Ideal Candidate Profile
- Fully confident programming, setting, and operating Heidenhain control systems
- Ability to write, edit, and amend CNC programmes
- Experience working to tight tolerances
- Experience with medium to large batch work and machining large components
- Confident working on parts up to 2m in length, using lifting equipment provided
- Time‑served apprenticeship in CNC machining or 10+ years proven CNC experience
- Strong working knowledge of 3-4 axis CNC machines, speeds, feeds, and geometric tolerances
- Experience working within an ISO 9001:2015 environment is desirable
Day‑to‑Day Duties
- Machining complex parts and components across a range of engineering materials including Aluminium, Alloy Steel, Stainless Steel, Inconel, and Titanium
- Reading and interpreting engineering drawings accurately
- Setting tooling and making adjustments during production
- Conducting detailed inspections using micrometers, plug gauges, verniers, ring gauges, and similar tools
- Working collaboratively as part of a skilled engineering team
Working Hours & Pay
- Monday to Thursday: 06:45 - 15:30
- Friday: 06:45 - 14:30
- Overtime available at Double Time!
- Pay rate is dependent on experience and will be discussed at interview
